Scuba diving in Tenerife without the crowds.

A good fun dive should feel like an underwater adventure, not a guided tour with a large group of strangers. We keep our groups small and organise divers according to experience, certification and comfort level whenever possible. Before entering the water, your guide explains the dive plan, maximum depth, conditions, marine life and safety procedures β€” then we follow a relaxed pace, adjusted to the group's air consumption and experience.

BOAT DIVING

Boat diving in Tenerife

Boat diving lets us reach some of Tenerife's most exciting underwater landscapes β€” dramatic walls, deeper volcanic reefs, wrecks and sites that cannot be comfortably reached from shore. The site is selected according to sea conditions, diver experience and certification level; some deeper or more demanding locations may require Advanced Open Water or equivalent experience.

Boat, 1 dive 68 €
Boat, 2 dives 118 €

Includes the boat trip, full dive equipment, tanks, weights, dive computer and professional guide.

NIGHT DIVING

Diving after sunset

At night, familiar dive sites become completely different. Octopus, crabs, moray eels and other nocturnal animals become more active, while your torch beam reveals colours and details often missed during the day. Suitable diving certification and recent experience are required; an underwater torch is provided when needed.

What can you see while diving in Tenerife?

Tenerife's combination of volcanic reefs and sandy seabeds creates habitats for a wide variety of Atlantic marine life. Depending on the dive site and season, you may encounter:

Eagle ray gliding over the sandy seabed, Tenerife Angelshark camouflaged in the sand, Tenerife
βœ“Green sea turtles
βœ“Stingrays and eagle rays
βœ“Angelsharks during the main season
βœ“Moray eels
βœ“Octopus and cuttlefish
βœ“Barracudas
βœ“Trumpetfish
βœ“Parrotfish
βœ“Groupers
βœ“Schools of bream and other reef fish
βœ“Seahorses and nudibranchs

Wild animals are never guaranteed, but our local guides know the dive sites and the areas where different species are commonly found. We follow a strict look-but-do-not-touch approach β€” divers must maintain good buoyancy, avoid chasing animals and respect Tenerife's underwater environment.

Dive sites for every experience level

We select the dive site according to your certification, recent experience, interests and the weather and sea conditions β€” Tenerife South offers options for newly certified Open Water Divers as well as experienced Advanced and specialty divers.

Volcanic reefs

Lava formations, rocky plateaus and cracks filled with moray eels, octopus and reef fish.

Sandy-bottom sites

Search the sand for rays, angelsharks, cuttlefish and other well-camouflaged animals.

Walls and drop-offs

Dramatic volcanic walls covered in marine life, with larger fish passing through the blue.

Wrecks

Some of Tenerife's most atmospheric wreck sites, for suitably certified and experienced divers.

Caves and swim-throughs

Arches and caverns chosen for your certification and comfort β€” no technical cave penetration.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be certified?

Yes. Guided fun dives are for certified scuba divers. Non-certified guests can join our Try Scuba Diving experience instead.

What certification level do I need?

Open Water Diver or an equivalent entry-level certification is enough for many of our shore dives. Deeper dive sites, wrecks and some boat dives may require Advanced Open Water certification or relevant experience.

Is equipment included?

Yes. Full equipment, a dive computer, tanks and weights are included in the published fun-dive prices.

How large are the groups?

We take a maximum of four divers per guide and often operate with fewer divers.

Can I dive with my own equipment?

Yes. You are welcome to bring your own equipment. Contact us before booking to ask about the price for divers using a complete personal equipment set.

Where do the dives start?

Barbarian Diving is based in Los Cristianos, Tenerife South. The final meeting point and dive site will be confirmed before your activity.

Can you guarantee a particular dive site?

No. Dive-site selection depends on sea conditions, weather, diver experience, certification and local restrictions. Tell us which sites interest you and we will include them when conditions allow.

Can you guarantee turtles or angelsharks?

No responsible dive centre can guarantee wild-animal sightings. Our guides know the local sites and will give you the best realistic opportunity, but marine life moves freely.

Can newly certified divers join?

Yes. We regularly guide newly certified divers and can select a comfortable site with an appropriate depth and pace.

Do I need a refresher?

A refresher may be recommended if you have not dived for a long time or do not feel confident with basic skills. Contact us with your certification level, total number of dives and date of your last dive.

Is diving insurance included?

Diving insurance is not automatically included in regular fun-dive prices. Valid diving insurance is required, and we can help arrange daily DAN cover when needed.

Can I book private diving?

Yes. Private one-to-one diving and private-group guiding are available on request, subject to availability.

Ready to explore Tenerife underwater?

Tell us your certification level, number of logged dives, date of your last dive and the days you'd like to dive β€” we'll recommend the best shore, boat or multi-dive option.
