Theory & Briefing

Your day starts with the wreck diving theory, learning how to plan and execute wreck dives safely, understanding potential hazards, navigation around wreck structures, equipment considerations and how to preserve and respect these incredible underwater historical sites. A thorough and fascinating briefing before heading into the ocean.

2 Wreck Dives

Your two wreck dives take you into some of the most atmospheric and fascinating dive sites in Tenerife. Depending on conditions your instructor will choose the best wrecks for the day, El Condesito and the Meridian in the south or El Peñon in Tabaiba. All now transformed into thriving artificial reefs, these wrecks are covered in marine life and dripping with history. An unforgettable experience that no reef dive can match.

Frequently asked questions

What wrecks will I dive on the course?

Tenerife has three fantastic wreck sites: El Condesito and the Meridian near Los Cristianos, and El Peñon in Tabaiba, a deeper, more dramatic dive. Your instructor picks the best one based on conditions.

Do I need Advanced Open Water certification?

Yes, because Tenerife's wreck sites are at depth, a valid SSI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) is required.

Is wreck diving dangerous?

It's completely safe with proper training. This course teaches non-penetration diving only, around and over the wreck rather than inside it.

What marine life will I see?

Large schools of fish, moray eels, octopus, stingrays and angel sharks sheltering around the wreck structures.

Can I combine this with other courses?

Yes, it pairs brilliantly with Deep Diver or Nitrox for longer bottom times and access to the deepest wreck sites.

What equipment do I need?

Nothing, all equipment including a torch is included.

Can I fly after?

Wait at least 18 to 24 hours after your last dive before flying home.
