What to expect

Theory Only

Everything you need to know about diving with enriched air. You will learn how Nitrox works, how to analyse your tank, how to set your dive computer for Nitrox, and how to dive safely with enriched air mixtures of up to 40% oxygen. Completed in just one day, online or in person at our centre in Los Cristianos.

Theory + Optional Dive

Put your new Nitrox knowledge straight into practice with an optional dive in Tenerife's crystal clear Atlantic waters. Dive with enriched air for the first time, set your dive computer correctly, and immediately feel the difference in your dive time and energy levels. The perfect way to complete your Nitrox certification with a real ocean experience.

What certification do I need?

A valid SSI Open Water Diver certification, one of the most accessible specialties available.

What is Nitrox and why should I dive with it?

A breathing mix with more oxygen and less nitrogen than regular air. You absorb less nitrogen per dive, so you can stay down longer, have shorter surface intervals, and feel less tired afterwards.

Will my existing dive computer work?

Most modern computers are Nitrox compatible, and your instructor will show you how to set it. If not, we have Nitrox-compatible computers on site.

How long does the course take?

Just 1 day. The theory can be done online before you arrive or in person, plus a few extra hours if you add the optional dive.

Is the optional dive necessary to get certified?

No, certification can be completed with theory only, though the dive is highly recommended to feel the benefits straight away.

What happens if sea conditions aren't suitable?

We reschedule or move to an alternative sheltered site.

Can I fly before or after diving?

Flying before diving is fine. After your last dive, wait at least 18 to 24 hours before flying home.

Can I combine this with other courses?

Yes, it fits easily alongside Advanced Open Water or Rescue Diver since it's just half a day of theory.
