Your first professional rating, mentored one-to-one by our German-led team.
Take the step from passionate diver to dive professional. Divemaster is mentored one-to-one by our team, with real water time on Tenerife's best sites and support that continues long after you qualify.

Are you looking to take the first step toward working in diving as a career? Your journey into the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the Divemaster program. Working closely with your instructor, you will expand your diving knowledge and refine your skills to professional level. Divemaster training develops your leadership ability and qualifies you to supervise diving activities and assist instructors with their students. The Divemaster certification is the prerequisite for SSI Open Water Instructor training, the door that opens every other professional pathway in diving.

Throughout the Divemaster program you will learn dive leadership skills both in the classroom and through independent study. You will deepen your understanding of dive physics, physiology, decompression theory and the aquatic environment, building the academic foundation every dive professional needs. This knowledge is what allows a Divemaster to make sound decisions under pressure and explain diving concepts clearly to the divers they guide.

As part of your Divemaster program you will also complete four specialty courses: Deep Diving, Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility, and Science of Diving. These are not optional extras, they are the practical skill set every working Divemaster relies on, from leading dives at depth to guiding groups safely after dark.

You will carry out water skills and stamina exercises, alongside training drills that strengthen your organisational ability and problem-solving under real diving conditions. These exercises also build your capacity to help other divers improve their own technique, a core part of what it means to lead, rather than simply dive alongside others.

You will put this knowledge into action through a structured period of hands-on experience and a series of practical training exercises, working alongside real students and certified divers. By the end, you will have the logged dives, the skills and the confidence to guide divers safely and assist instructors as a certified SSI Dive Guide on your path to full Divemaster status.
